Ok, now to answer the questions Alyssa asked me:
1. If you could time travel, where would you go and who would you meet?
Oh dear, this is a hard one! I love history, and I would love to go to most any time period, just to see what it was like. I like the idea of traveling back to pioneer days and meeting an average pioneer family from that time, seeing firsthand how they lived and what things were like. I know quite a bit about this era, so it would be fun to actually experience what I’ve learned about.
2. What is your favorite bookish quote?
I don’t know if I have a favorite bookish quote, but this is one that I like:
“I do so hate finishing books. I would like to go on with them for years.”
3. What is one place in the world you would never visit?
The bottom of the ocean. I know the coral reefs are beautiful, but I’m not willing to do what it takes to get there. I’d go pretty much anywhere except a place that involved getting there via swimming or scuba diving.
4. One unique symbol that represents your country/state/province?
The Lone Star
Before Texas was a state, it was a republic with its own star. We still have the Lone Star on our flag, and stars on the sides of houses are a pretty common décor item. And our nickname is The Lone Star State!
5. Animal that you fear the most?
Probably snakes. I’ve had several close calls with venomous (not poisonous) snakes, and I’d just rather not be in the same area as them.
6. Do you call it pop or soda?
I say soda occasionally, but I mainly say soft drink or coke. In Texas, coke does not necessarily mean Coca Cola. Here’s a conversation you might here in Texas:
Person 1: “You want a coke?”
Person 2: “Sure!”
Person 1: “What kind?”
Person 2: “Dr. Pepper!”
7. A book that you wish you could have changed the ending?
The Robber’s Cave by Charlotte Maria Tucker
Without giving away any spoilers, there’s one particular character I would like to change how things ended for them.
8. Book genre/ trope that you don’t like reading?
Unrealistic ones like fantasy and sci-fi. I like reading books that could have actually happened. And those genres usually have magic, superpowers, and other things that are not Biblical. If they don’t have those elements, then I would consider reading them, like some of the fantasy stories that I have read.
9. One song that drives you crazy?
Just one? There are a lot of songs that drive me crazy, mainly the ones that get stuck in my head and won’t get out! But this is one of the first ones that come to mind. Enjoy!
Not Another Silly Christmas Song from a Majesty Music Christmas Program
10. Favorite type of character to write/ read?
I like writing villains…and cute kids. Maybe I should combine the two and write a cute kid who is a villain! I like reading characters that I can connect with and feel like I know personally, characters I can feel like I’m friends with.
11. If you could ask your favorite person from history one question, what would it be?
First off, who is my favorite person from history? There are a lot of people I admire and enjoy learning about. One of them is Fanny Crosby, the blind hymn writer.
Now, what would I ask her? I would ask her which of her hymns has been the most meaningful to her.
Her hymns have blessed so many. I wonder which ones were the biggest blessing to her during her life.
Who am I nominating?
This tag has been going around quite a bit lately, so I’m not tagging anyone. (Pretty much all my blogging friends have already been tagged.) If you want to answer these questions in the comments, or if you have a blog and would like to answer them there, feel free to do so! Again, thank you, Alyssa, for nominating me! Y’all, be sure to go check out her blog!
