Hope, Holiness, and Humility

What are some reasons for praising God that begin with the letter H? Hope is one; so is humility, and there are others.

Hope of Heaven

As Christians, we have the hope of Heaven. We know that no matter what happens to us here on Earth, when we die, we will go to Heaven to be with Jesus.

1Peter 1:3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.

God’s Holiness

Psalm 29:2

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Psalm 30:4

Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

Psalm 93:5

Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

Psalm 97:12

Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.

God is both our physical Healer and our spiritual Healer.

1Peter 2:24

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Psalm 103:2-4

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies.

Psalm 147:3

He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.

It’s not easy to be humble, and being humbled isn’t usually pleasant, but humility is a beautiful character quality, and we have the perfect example of it in Jesus.

2 Corinthians 8:9

For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

He humbled Himself in order to leave Heaven and come to earth to suffer and die for us.

Isaiah 53:3-5

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

In our last devotional on this topic, we talked about grace. It is when we are humble and admit to God that we are in need of His help that He gives us grace.

Thank you for joining me today in giving praise to God!
