From My Devotions: Seeking Wisdom in Proverbs 3

Every Sunday I will be sharing something from my devotions from the past week or so. Sometimes it may be just a few verses; other times I may include my own thoughts and share what God has been teaching me. Today I would like to share some verses from Proverbs 3, the chapter I am memorizing right now.

A Bible with a commentary

Proverbs 3:21-26

My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

These verses have been a blessing to me as I have been studying them. Like so many verses in Proverbs, they talk about the importance of seeking wisdom. Wisdom comes from God, so by seeking Him, we can get wisdom and understanding. I hope you are encouraged by these verses and are seeking God each and every day.

Are you doing any Scripture memory right now? If so, what passage are you working on? Let me know in the comments.

  1. “For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.” That is a favorite and what a promise. The Lord is our confidence! Thank you for the encouragement, Hannah!

    1. Such a good verse, Rachel! We can always completely trust in the Lord and put our confidence in Him. Thank you for sharing it with us!

  2. I love verse 24, Hannah. I’ve struggled with getting proper sleep since I was very young, but as a daughter of the King of kings it is much better than sleeping with guilt as a sinner :). I’m so grateful God gave us a chance to gain wisdom and a closer relationship with Him at the same time! I’m in amazement that He would send His only Son to save me from my sin, and offer that gift to everyone else on earth!
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him that endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” Hebrews 12:1-3

    1. I love Verse 24 too, Grace! And thank you for sharing the verses. That is such a good passage!
